On the 9th of June, a total of 11 representatives (6 year 1’s and 5 year 2’s) from PharmNotts was sent to attend this long-awaited annual event in the HUMONGOUS campus of UM (YES no joke its crazily BIG, at least 10 times of UNMC! Can you believe it?!)
The event began with an ‘ice breaking’ session on the first day with some fun + awesome games prepared by the NoGaps committee members, followed by some workshops on how to perform blood glucose test and wound management on the second day along with a tiring yet fun-filling Explorace at the end of the day!
On the following day, we took part in a community outreach program at Kepong to promote better lifestyles in a somewhat poor village in Jinjang where most families are of low income community. There were games prepared for the kids, free BP and blood glucose tests for the villagers etc etc....and free Nestle koko krunch for everyone! *and....just so you know, Nestle was the main sponsor for this program too!*
The 3rd night was filled with whole lots of awesomeness and creativity of the NoGaps participants in the ‘dare to show’ event! Each group came out with its own performance and rocked the night away in UM with much laughter and amazement! It was an extremely entertaining plus fun night for everyone I’m sure! Feel free to visit http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150212548209232 for one of the awesome performances of the night!
The 4th day started with some career talks by the people from Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS) Young Pharmacist Chapter, followed by funny debates among the different university representatives and ended with Gala Night that marked the end of the whole NoGaps gathering.
Owh! And not to forget, congratulations to our senior, Kam Siew for winning the second runner-up prize in the Patient Counselling Education competition. We are very proud of you, Kam Siew! All the best in the UK to all the seniors too!
Finally, all the representatives from PharmNotts thank the NoGap committees for their hard work plus their friendly and wonderful hospitality for these 5 days in UM! :D
''All in all, it was a fun filled 5 days with activities targeted for future pharmacists...from running around UM campus (literally the whole campus!!) attending workshops & talks to giving back to the community and advocating better lifestyles through a Community Outreach Programme (COP) at Jinjang and finally a fancy Gala Night to wrap up the experience while keeping in mind the struggle of millions with AIDS.''
